STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) tests are often used to diagnose and screen for specific STDs. These tests may be part of routine health screenings for those that are at a higher risk of infection, have been exposed or are ordered when a patient experiences signs and symptoms of an STD.
STD testing/screening can cover a series of over 20 different types of STDs. The most common types of STD tests that are ordered are: Chlamydia/Gonorrhea through Urine, Pharyngeal & Rectal, HIV, RPR (Syphilis), Creatinine and on occasion Hepatitis A/B/C depending on what your doctor seems fit.
It is really important to get tested if you suspect you may be infected or exposed to an STD. Getting tested can help treat your infection early on and help prevent giving it to other people. Reaching out to your primary doctor and getting tested can help them diagnose and treat you appropriately to avoid any serious health problems that may come if left untreated.
Your doctor or healthcare professional who ordered the tests should receive your lab results within 24-48 hours from the time of collection sent directly from the testing Laboratory. Although some special tests may take longer to analyze, and are usually done within one week. We will inform you of the standard turn around time in each visit with us and keep you updated.
